Too often when trying to decide which swimming pool to buy people get focused on the wrong issues. There's much more to swimming pools than pool motors. So make sure you do your research right.

There are all kinds of swimming pools on the market.

1. Basic pools

Like the Oregon are 18 feet in diameter and 48 inches deep. They have a 20 mm liner and a 1 HP pump with a sand filter, and 6 way multi port valve. It also comes with the skimmer, ladder, maintenance kit, and chemical kit.

2. Premium pools

Like the Rushmore or Braceless are built a little more durable than the basics and they are larger ranging in size from 24 feet in diameter to larger. The liner is thicker at 25 mm and the pool motor larger as well as a larger sand filter. A 25 year warranty is very common in this range of pools.

3. Elite pools

These pools are much larger and deeper than the basic models. The liners will be anywhere from 25 mm to 30 mm and the sand filters and motors are larger than in the premium pools. The warranty is commonly 30 years.

There are many reputable pool manufacturers and pool part manufactures offering a full range of products from those on the tightest of budgets to those with an open check book.

You can choose between above ground or in-ground pools. Both have their pros and cons. Above ground pools are easy to take down and move around but they don't last for ever and they never have the same appeal as an in-ground....
